A Pride and Prejudice Night

There are some nights that lend themselves to watching Jane Austen movies. This happens to be one of them. Why? Well, my hubby happens to be working an odd shift tonight...instead of 8am-4pm, he is working 4pm-midnight! We rarely are apart at night, and even after almost 10 years, I dislike it. Most nights I stay up later than him, but it is so reassuring to know that he is just in the other room and will be there when I crawl into the covers.

Now, I know there are some wives that look forward to a night without their husbands...I am surely NOT one of those! I love to be with my husband and would rather spend time with him than anyone else. How could I possible want to be parted from the love of my life and my best heart's mate? Sappy, I know...but I adore him and tonight I feel like pouring these feelings out. When you are lonely for the one you love, you tend to spread your tender feelings about.

So, to take my mind off the loneliness, I sat and watched the new version of Pride and Prejudice with Keira Knightly. Although not my favorite version, I do enjoy it quite alot. The music is splendid, the scenery is breathtaking and the chemistry between the characters is wonderful. I was especially taken with Mr. Darcy's statement to Elizabeth Bennet... "You have betwiched me, body and soul...", so romantic and truly how I think most women wish their husbands would think of them.

Along with my movie watching, I decided to do a little needed maintenance on my sewing machine and sort through an assortment of fabric, stash and remnants. That was fun and certainly killed some time. I organized my to-do projects in my sewing basket, and hopefully soon I will get to them.

Well, my movie is done, my sewing is organized, the children are all tucked snuggly in bed and the house is quiet...I suppose I ought to go to bed and await my hubby's arrival. I hope you all have a restful night and remember to hug your husbands and let them know just how much you love them....

The 'Pride & Prejudice' you watched is my hubby & I's most favorite movie. It is a beauty! We have the soundtrack too and it plays its lovely melodies throughout our cottage daily. Our children get tired of how often we watch this movie. We actually watched it this week over a course of 2 nights, while the kiddos were away! I would have prefered another actress for Elizabeth, but I love Mr. Darcy & Jane & Mama & Papa Benett. I often think of the maidservant and how she goes about her duties inspires me to be that way as I go about my own homekeeping. I do understand your not wanting to ever be apart from your love. I feel the same way:o)

Oh, I do love that soundtrack! I don't have it, but perhaps I'll ask my hubby for my birthday:-)
I have to agree that I would have probably picked a different Elizabeth too...she just doesn't do the role justice, but oh how I love Papa Bennet too!
I wish I felt like singing during my homekeeping, too...but alas, I more often do not.
Funny thing about my post...just after writing it and shutting things off for the night... in came my hubby:-)

Aww. How sweet! I miss my hubby when he is gone too :( Crawling in to bed alone is no fun. Perhaps I'll follow your example and watch some Pride & Prejudice tomorrow!

How I love all things Jane Austen.
My very favorite version of P&P is the A&E version with Colin Firth. The newer one is also enjoyable and has fantastic cinematography and music.
I was actually playing the music from the Keira Knightly version on the piano earlier today.
I would love to have the soundtrack as well.
