A Book Meme

The other day, I was tagged by dear Shannon over at A Maiden’s Musings. This is an especially fun meme (by the way...I still have no clue as to what that means;-0) because it is about books and I LOVE books. I’ve been a reader since I can remember and I enjoy it when I can sneak a chapter or two in when things are quiet or calm. There are some rules and I will try to do my best to follow them, but I must say, it will be a challenge since the majority of those I would tag, well, have already been! Enjoy!

Rules
Link to the person that tagged you, post the rules somewhere in your meme, answer the questions, tag six people in your post, let the tagees know they’ve been chosen by leaving a comment on their blog, let the tagger know your entry is posted.
Who is your all time favorite author and why?
This is a really tough question! How can one really just narrow it down to one? I have several favorites and would love to just list them…but I will resist. So, I will say that right now my all-time favorite author would be Jane Austen. She has such a witty, enjoyable style. The moral values she introduces in her books are sound and I really enjoy it. I’ve always loved reading and have always been encouraged to read good books by good authors, however, I’m not sure where I first came across Jane Austen. But I was hooked with the first book!
Who was your first favorite author and why? Do you still consider him/her to be among your favorites?
This was a very easy one :-) My first favorite would most definitely be Laura Ingalls Wilder. My Mom and Dad read the Little House books to me as a child, and then I read them many times as a girl. As a child the style of writing was very easy, yet engaging, so I could continue to read the books by Laura over and over as I aged and still enjoy them. She had a way of captivating her audience and bringing them with her on the prairie. I think someone told her that she could paint pictures with her words (or something to that affect) and they were very much right. I definitely still consider her one of my favorites and read her books again and again! Actually, I’m having the itch to read them again :-)
Who is the most recent addition to your list of favorite authors, and why?
I’d have to say J.R.R Tolkien. Perhaps this is strange, but it is true. Growing up I’d heard of the Hobbit, Lord of the Rings and Tolkien, but was not allowed to read these books. Then the movies came out a few years ago and my hubby and I went to see them. From that point on I really wanted to read the books and so hubby bought them for me. Tolkien is an amazing author with a style that just draws you in. It is easy to get “into” his worlds.
If someone asked you who your favorite authors were right now, which authors would first pop out of your mouth?
Aaah, now I can let loose! These are my favorites: Jane Austen, L.M. Montgomery, C.S. Lewis, Tolkien, Laura Ingalls Wilder, Robert Louis Stevenson, James Alexander Thom and Willa Cather. Seriously, I really like a lot of books and authors…so this is an awfully short list ;-)
Okay, I tag:
I know, that is only one..but seriously, I think everyone else has been tagged..so if you haven't been and you'd like to play, consider yourself tagged :-)
Blessings,
Sommer

Dear Sommer,

We have very similar tastes! I love your authors and absolutely love Tolkien! Thank you for tagging me and I will do my meme a bit later this morning. I have to rush out this morning to get my blood work done (for my yearly physical).

I did post about my surprise this morning! :)

Blessings,

Gina

Ah, how could I have forgotten Robert Louis Stevenson? :-) It's interesting how many people listed Laura Ingalls Wilder as their favorite childhood author -- think of how many lives she's influenced! I still remember the mouth-watering descriptions of food in "Farmer Boy."

Thanks for "playing," Sommer! It was so much fun to see how similar our tastes are :)

Yours in Christ,
Shannon
