It's A Girl...

Before I head to bed, I just wanted to let you all know that Crystal has had a baby girl! She sounds like she is doing well and so is Crystal. I hope you will check out her blog and get more info from her there. She has updated us all on how things have gone. I am praising the Lord right now for answered prayer.

Thank you to anyone that may have joined me in lifting her up in prayer the last couple of days. It has been heard!

Blessings,
Sommer

Baby Paine Has Arrived!!!

Yes, I know this isn't my baby...but I am so excited! Crystal has delivered her baby and now we are just awaiting updates on her and the baby's condition. I don't know the gender, but the Lord has been faithful throughout the day. Thank you for praying!

Crystal is requesting that we continue to pray for her recovery. Please, will you join me in this?

Please join me in prayer...

My dear readers, I'm asking you to join me in lifting Crystal from Biblical Womanhood Online up in prayer throughout today(and perhaps the next few days). If you read her blog at all, you will have followed that she has been having some difficulties with her pregnancy recently. Because of this she is going in today to be induced. Please go to her blog for more details. I hope you will join me in this and I will try to keep you all updated as I hear what is going on.

Lord, please wrap Crystal in your arms of peace and bring wisdom to her midwife and doctors. May her body and child be kept strong and healthy. Amen!

Blessings,
Sommer

Simple pleasures

Sometimes when I am surrounded by stress or busyness, it is the simple things that give me the most pleasure. I've been worrying this week and it has been very hot. These two things together have made me a rather cranky momma and wife.
But today...I had some nice moments that just brought it all back into perspective. This morning started out cool and breezy..and continued on through the day that way. On top of that, I was able to attend a lovely brunch with the ladies from my homeschool group. What a treat. We sat around chatting and sharing our joy together, eating such tasty morsels. Before I left, my good friend prayed with me over the worries I've been having and it felt so nice to talk to her.
When I came home there was a bit of chaos, but I was able to still focus on some of the more enjoyable points of the day. I was frustrated(if you are curious about this, check out my hubby's blog http://danslongrun.blogspot.com, he talks about it there)but I hope that I handled it well.
One of the other great, yet simple pleasures.....my dear baby boy's smile and laughter. He is about 4 1/2months old and I get so much enjoyment from watching his face. Truly, that alone can brighten my day amidst some very trying times.

I am so thankful that the Lord has given me these little snippets today to refresh me. I feel that my new week can start anew, with a fresh perspective.

Blessings,
Sommer

One Of My Favorite Things...

Today I did one of my absolute favorite things...baking with my children! It really is so fun. At this point, I still do most of it, but they help me measure and pour ingredients in to the bowl. Sometimes they help shape cookies and such. And of course, they always like to clean the bowl and spoon...so do I :-)
This is something that brings back wonderful memories from my childhood. Either baking with my Mom or just myself baking for the family. I've always loved to do it.
Today we baked Chocolate Chip cookies...using the Nestle recipe. They are my favorite! Of course it would have been even better if the weather was not so hot...eek! Hot oven and hot day...not a good combination, but I wouldn't trade an opportunity to cook with the girls for anything.

Sometimes, it is the little things that give the greatest reward!

Blessings,
Sommer

Added Some Links

I thought I'd add the links of some sites and blogs I enjoy. A few of these I visit regularly and others, only once in awhile. I do hope that you will get as much pleasure from these as I do. Most of the places I go are very encouraging to me or create much food for thought. You will see uplifting Christian sites, sites for homeschooling, as well as for sewing and crafting and others that I find useful.
Stay tuned for more additions to this list, as it will definitely grow as I find time to add to it.
Enjoy your stay,
Sommer

A Little About Me

Since I am new to this little spot, I thought I'd tell a little something about myself.
I am a 31 year old, very happily married stay-at-home mom. I have three beautiful children...two girls(7 and 4) and a brand new little man(4 months). I've been homeschooling my dd7 for a year now in a Christian Classical/Charlotte Mason method. It has been so much fun and such an amazing experience. Certainly there have been days of frustration, but I am overwhelmingly thrilled by what we are doing!
I love to sew...albeit, I can find many ways to procrastinate about it :-) However, I'd love to do more sewing for my kids and myself. I also knit, but I am just a beginner. I have a long way to go with it. I love reading and writing(I will undoubtedly share some poetry I have written in the future) and absolutely love horses.
I desire to become a better keeper at home, and I am constantly working on this part of my life. I want to set a good example for my children and know that I have a long way to go. Although I am surely struggling in this area, I hope to be an encouraging and uplifting spirit to those that visit. One of the greatest things I can share with those who come here is my love of God and desire to glorify and enjoy Him forever.
Looking forward to sharing with you all :-)

Blessings,
Sommer

Work in Progress

I've just begun here, so things are a bit incomplete and messy. Bear with me as I rearrange and settle in. I hope you will all enjoy my little peaceful spot as I get settled.
