A friend of mine shared a link to a lovely post on contentment. Being that I sometimes struggle with this, I thought it was a really wonderful and convicting read. I hope you will enjoy it as well and be encouraged in your efforts to become more content as a keeper of the home.Blessings,Sommer
Well, I missed Monday and Tuesday's WIFD...but I'm here today:-) I apologize for the very out of focus picture. My dear little Brenna took the pic and it just didn't come out quite like we wanted. Oh well:-)
Today is pretty much a stay at home day. We've been doing lessons(which are just about finished), and I will be doing some ever present decluttering, dishes and laundry(fold and wash). So today I donned a black t-shirt that I bought from Target a while back and a tiered burgandy skirt. The tiers have three different fabrics and it is one my parents bought for me way back...I love it! I also have been wearing a cardigan throughout the day as it is a tad chilly today. I was hoping my socks and sandals would be missed...but alas, Brenna seemed to think that they needed to be included:-o
Hopefully, I will participate for the rest of the week...but no promises! Have a lovely day!
Blessings,
Sommer
I'm on a lovely sewing forum, Sense and Sensibility, and several times a year the ladies there organize a week in feminine dress. Of course, this mostly consists of dress/skirt wearing and showing that we can dress this way while going about our daily lives. I decided to try to join in this time, but I can't promise I'll be consistent posting:-) I will try to through out the week though.
For today, we went to church and I almost always wear skirts or a dress. Today I am wearing an old stand by that I've worn with just about every pregnancy. It is a black nylon like skirt that I bought back when I was pregnant with Fiona. It has served me well:-) It can also be worn pre- and post- baby! My top is a lovely salmon colored sweater with knit or crochet(not sure which) lace trimming the sleeves and hem. It is very comfortable. My shoes were some lovely vintage-like heels and black tights:-)
My sweet daughters also agreed to let me take their pictures:-) Who can resist the camera? Brenna(on the left) is wearing a denim dress with little flowers all over it(I love the puff sleeves too and it was a hand me down..gotta love that!) and some bloomers from Naartjie. Brenna just turned 6 years old today too...and was very happy to get dressed up:-)
Fiona(on the right) is wearing a lovely dress that she was given by my MIL. This dress was once worn by her auntie in the 80's. It is a sheer white dress with blue flowers all over and a white under slip/petticoat . I always think she looks like a little princess:-)
Thanks for stopping by and I do hope to post these through out the week. I have another doctor appointment this week and I am just entering my 2nd trimester. It is starting to be the time when I dig out the maternity clothes and seeing what I can wear:-) Can't wait!
Hoping you are all having a blessed Lord's Day!
Blessings,
Sommer
Shannon tagged me the other day for a post on random things, so I decided to do it :-)***
Here are the rules: Write six random things. Tag some people. Tell the person who tagged you that you've completed your misson. Have fun! I can't promise that at the end of this I'll end up tagging anyone specific, but if you read this and decide you want to join in, consider yourself tagged!***
1. If I could, I'd be like Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody(minus the intrique and murders), and take my entire family with me as I dig in the hot sands of Egypt or some other lovely archaeologically rich location...***
2. I love flying buttresses. They are simply elegant and beautiful.***
3. I have a smidgen(and I do mean a smidgen) of Choctaw Indian in me. They once were one of the Five Civilized Tribes and they also walked the Trail of Tears.***
4. I hope I have another girl(though I would be happy with another boy). I think I will because I've felt the same way as with my pregnancies for Fiona and Brenna...rather sick. I love having my little man...he is so sweet. Kind of just want one of him :-)***
5. I love the state of Washington! I was born there and I've always had a longing to live there again. The mist and green somehow bring me great amounts of joy. My Mom didn't agree...that is why we moved when I was six weeks old.***
6. When I have this wee babe, it will be my fourth c-section. Ever since I had my first they terrify me. Nothing bad has ever happened and there isn't generally any reason to worry, but I am scared none the less. Once it is over, I will be glad. I must remember to give my anxiety to the Lord...otherwise I'll be a basket case on the day of the delivery!***
Well, these are fairly random...but then it is a post of random things. Hopefully you enjoyed the chance of getting to know a little more about me.No tags today, but if you want to, join in:-)***
Blessings,Sommer
The weather has been gradually changing for Fall the last couple of weeks and I've been loving it. This morning I woke to a lovely scent of rain on the grass and cement...one of my favorite scents! I suppose that sounds strange, but I just love the way it smells...it tells me Fall is really here:-)
Things have been going along fine here and we are bustling along through school. Next week is our first little break of the year. I schedule things so that we generally have 6 weeks on, 1 week off(two during Christmas)...this way none of us just burn out. I did this last year, and it worked fairly well.
As you may have noticed, I have been absent again from blogging. Well, I will explain:-) Normally I take the time during Liam's nap to write or sometimes in the evening before bed. Well, lately I've been napping during Liam's nap and just trying to relax in the evenings...so blogging just hasn't happened. Why? Are you sick you may ask...Well, I have been...with morning sickness(okay...really all day sickness)...yes, you heard right:-)
We are expecting our 4th blessing! It was not planned, but not not planned either..does that make sense? We were surprised...my hubby actually asked if the test was right:-D I am so very happy. I am almost through my 1st trimester and I am beginning to feel better. Yesterday was a rough day, today, not so bad.
About the only thing that concerns me with this pregnancy is that it will be my 4th c-section and we still live in a 2 bedroom apartment...getting a little tight. But, I've already been blessed by a sister at church with a bunk bed for the girls(Praise God!!!) and we will put Liam in with them for a time in a toddler bed(Brenna's). So, although I am a little stressed, I can already see God's provision for us. If you have any ideas for making a small space work with multiple children..let me know in the comments:-) I'd love to hear from you all!
Well, soon I will need to get lunch ready, so off I go...but see you soon:-)
Blessings,
Sommer
